Fabulous State of the Union Address

Yes I do know it hasn’t happened yet, but since I am a time traveler I would get a jump on everybody else. Especially all those very intelligent talking heads and pundits.

After hearing our President speak, couldn’t help but be impressed. Wasn’t aware of all of the great accomplishments of the current administration. Didn’t know how many jobs were created, how much taxes were cut, spending was reduced, and how much better off we are even though our county was in such terrible shape when he took over. I didn’t realize now he really is our savior. Guess that is why so many times I feel like I am in that group who are considered stupid and don’t get it. Just didn’t realize it is the government’s responsibility to create jobs. And now after listing to the President understand that if we just create enough new programs we will put everyone back to work, and you know what I might have figured it out. After all just think of all those people we will put to work just administrating those new programs. You are probably asking how we are going to pay all those people, well don’t worry he will just dip into his “stash”, and if you don’t think he has enough on that credit card, the United State’s Congress has just raised the credit limit and if that isn’t enough then all they have to do is raise it again. Once they have raised it enough then inflation will take care of the problem the new trillion will be the old billion and if we are really lucky it will be the old million, so what if bread costs 100K. After all as our President said our country is already broke so what’s another few trillion among friends?

This might worry you on how in the world can we pay it back. Well that’s not a problem either, we will let future generations pay for it, we will be dead so it won’t be our problem.   If we pay those who are administrating the new programs more than what the President promised to tax we will get some of it back from them. Also since we have a precedent of raising the taxes on the rich to over 70% we will get a bill passed to get more than that, hey, how about 90+%. After all how much does one person need. Don’t the needs of many outweigh the needs of a few? I know this might sound like a radical new idea, but sure our current administration is capable of taking this on. The other part of this plan is very simple, and is going to solve the global warming problem too, just make the rate of spending match the hockey stick. After all once energy prices have skyrocketed, as our President promised, no one will be able to afford to pay for that old fashioned carbon based energy, ok won’t be able to afford any other source either. Maybe the good news is we will have some young person studying by firelight in their cabin who will someday be president and will be that president who will provide us with a modern day emancipation from the slavery we so foolishly allowed ourselves to be sold into, that is assuming they can afford the wood for the cabin and fire.

If you think this war is being won just because of the fact that a few battles have been won recently then you haven’t lived long enough. God bless your optimism, but if the United States as our fathers knew it is going to be saved this isn’t the time for complacency. John Adams said “But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” Would hate to think that both my great great grandfather service in the Union during the Civil war, or my grandfather service in WWI , or my father’s service in WWII , or mine in Vietnam, or all of my brother’s and sister’s in all the conflicts since then and those serving now is all for was for naught. Might be able to survive standing in front of God, only because of his grace, but will be dreading standing in front of my paternal great great grandfather Tandy Lafayette Johnson who looks me in the eye and reminds me he snuck out of Tennessee to join the Union so he could live up to the name his father had given him.

If this keeps up what I have been saying for some time we need a new national anthem, how about Sixteen Ton’s. If you don’t know this one better look it up, because we all will be singing it soon. There is a line in the song, “I load sixteen tons and get deeper in debt and I owe my soul to the company store”.  That is exactly where we and our children and grand children will be, living on the government’s plantation.

Nuts!

A lot of people are asking “Why?” some very brave Seals are going to trial.  But this doesn’t surprise me. Admit this is my opinion and is colored by the fact that remember my fellow citizen who opposed the war screaming in my face and calling me “baby killer”, and tolerated it because realized they didn’t know who I was, nor did they understand the concept of Duty, Honor, Country. The sad thing is they still don’t. Was encourage when this begin this time around those same type of people decided that demonizing individual service men wasn’t going to be a very good tactic. But didn’t believe it would last. Matter of fact have been surprised it has lasted as long as it has. These young men especially, but also their fellow service members need all the support that can be generated. Please remember those who are now moving the political outrage of the war to direct attacks upon our troops are the same kind who have existed before and in my war when they won over the politicos and we abandoned the good people of South Vietnam have never apologized for the millions of deaths that resulted immediately, nor for willingness of others to continue to kill and maim our troops over the following decades because they can point to that decision and say “see, they wont stay the course, all we have to do is bloody enough of them.” I question if we would have had a Beirut, a Cole, a Kosovo, or a Desert Storm if that decision hadn’t been made.  I am pleading for those of you who recognize this outrageous and egregious travesty step up and let your voices heard. There were some and their parents who didn’t during my war because it was political correct, please don’t make this same mistake again. I am a veteran, a son of a WWII veteran, grandson of a WWI veteran, and the Greatgreatgrandson of two Civil war Union soldiers.. I know this isn’t unique but recently have heard their voices calling out from the graves asking me “When are you going to remember your oath and find you voice”? Well I beg your forgiveness and borrow an answer given by a fellow solider on a cold winter day “NUTS! There is nothing about war that is in any way political correct and to expect so is more than foolishness it’s down right stupid and yes I am calling those who would think for even a moment that putting these Seal's on trial are stupid. Political Correct---NUTS!
